How to request
The system identifies for a vessel in 'My fleet' possible time windows for a combined survey and inform you via email.
Click on the link "Survey Booking" to access the 'Status' page of the vessel on Veracity for Class.
The combined smart survey scope is already filtered in the 'Status' page and you can review the
- smart survey notification - click on link to details
- smart survey scope and add/adjust scope items
- smart survey window visualization.
Smart survey window visualization (3):
- The “smart survey window” (green lines) defines when the maximum number of surveys can be combined
- Depending on the preference in the subscription, the smart window can be combination of survey and audits or surveys / audits only
- CC’s and CA’s may be proposed even if audits only have been given as subscription
- CC’s and CA’s alone will not define a smart window but be picked up by late notifications
- Lifting appliances if applicable will not define smart scope time window, but will be included in the proposed scope together with main class annual
Further information can be added in the 'Remarks' filed.
After the scope is defined, please enter appropriate port(s):
- Select, if survey needs dry-docking (in this case, limited SSB functionality only)
- Review survey time estimate onboard to identify appropriate port stays
- Enter appropriate port options either manually or...
- ...by uploading csv or xlsx file template.
The limited functionality will not include “Upfront cost-estimate” and “Benchmarking of possible ports”.
Estimated required
survey / audit time is BETA functionality (2):
- This feature is presently in BETA mode. The majority of time estimates are reasonable, but there will be scope combinations where the estimate can be too low or too high
- This is an indication based on average historical data for similar surveys/audits and the actual survey time will normally be in the range +/- 25% from this value
- Ship and crew preparedness and availability will influence the required survey time
- The following surveys and audits are not provided with a time estimate in the current version of SSB:
- Surveys in dry-dock, Main Class Renewal surveys, Intermediate Surveys for ships more than 15 years, Part held surveys, Occasional surveys and audits in general
- Adding / removing smart scope items may result in less accurate time predictions.
Click on 'New port entries' to add manually in the dialogue box an appropriate port:
- Enter port name and, if known, berth
- Enter ETA, Survey start, ETD in port, NOTE 07:00 and 17:00 are default values
- Press 'Add' button to add port to port option list
By clicking the 'Add' button the selected port is evaluated. Based on the result a message appears in the dialogue box:
- Recommended port: The port entry was added to the request. This is a recommended port. Would you like to add another port?
- Not recommended port: The port entry was added to the request. This is not a recommended port. Would you like to add another port?
Based on the evaluation you can either search and add further ports or close the dialogue box.
To automatically upload port and time data click first on the () icon next to 'Upload schedule' button.
A pop up window with additional information and the templates (csv or xlsx) to be downloaded will appear.
Fill in all relevant information before uploading the template by pressing the 'Upload schedule' button. The information will be checked by the system and if any correction is required, a warning () will appear in front of the port name.
The system evaluates defined scope with selected port(s) and prepare for each port a recommendation for conduction the survey.
The assessment of the ports will be presented as:
- Recommended – full survey scope, optimal travel/overtime costs
- Possible – full scope, no optimal travel/overtime costs
- Not Recommended – limited scope or high travel/overtime costs.
Please review the recommendation(s) and select the preferred port.
- Review info on survey scope and travel/overtime cost indication per port (includes relevant PSA agreements)
- Review recommendation(s)
- Select port for the booking
- Review further port information in port finder
By entering more than one port, you will have the benefit of benchmarking travel and overtime cost to reduce the total cost of a survey.
Estimated travel and overtime cost estimate is BETA functionality:
- This feature is presently in BETA mode
- The estimated travel and overtime cost given in SSB is not an official offer from DNV GL but an indicative value given for benchmark purpose
- The cost estimate is calculated based on the time interval defined by the survey date and ETD
- Delays or early arrival or departure may influence the actual travel and overtime cost
- Actual survey execution might lead to differences between booking and the invoiced amount on travel and overtime cost.
Click on the () icon next to the station to receive further port information including links to
- 'Port Finder' with additional local station information
- 'Approval Finder' which shows you the DNV GL approved service suppliers in the country.
'Port Finder' will show you the location of the port, inform you about the local station, give you additional information whether in-water bottom survey is recommended in that port and list the DNV GL approved service suppliers in that country.
Click on () icon next to DNV GL station name to open 'Approval Finder' which shows you the DNV GL approved service suppliers in the country.
To finalize the request please
- Enter agent information for the selected port
- Review and accept Terms & Conditions online
- Check booking summary and submit request.
After you have submitted the request an E-mail order confirmation will be send out. When you receive confirmation of the booking, DNV GL will attach the necessary Survey Preparation Documents reflecting the booked scope. When you forward this to the ship, it will give the crew the opportunity to prepare for an effective survey/audit and reduce the risk of findings and conditions of class.
